Horton Plains National Park is a misty, elevated plateau located in Sri Lanka’s Central Highlands. At over 2,000 meters above sea level, it’s part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the country’s most unique ecosystems. It’s famous for the dramatic World’s End viewpoint, which features a sheer drop of 900 meters and breathtaking views on clear mornings. The park is home to rare flora and fauna, including the sambar deer and several endemic birds. Horton Plains is a paradise for hikers, nature lovers, and photographers, especially during the early morning hours when mist blankets the valleys. The cool climate, alpine vegetation, and sweeping grasslands provide a welcome contrast to the tropical lowlands.
