Pidurangala Rock

Pidurangala Rock is located just a few kilometers from Sigiriya and offers one of the best panoramic views of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle. The hike is relatively short but involves scrambling over large boulders toward the top. At sunrise, it’s one of the most magical experiences — overlooking the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress bathed in golden light. The rock itself is home to an ancient cave monastery with a massive reclining Buddha statue at its base. Quieter and less crowded than Sigiriya, Pidurangala is a perfect mix of adventure, history, and breathtaking scenery.
